Kara J. Cavallo, Esq. Joins Board of Children’s Rights Society, Inc.
Kara Cavallo, Esq, Senior Counsel at Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP (J&G) concentrating in civil litigation and appellate practice, was elected to the Board of Directors for the Children’s Rights Society, Inc. on September 26, 2018.
The Children’s Rights Society, Inc., is a not-for-profit legal services agency serving children in Orange County, New York. It was formed in 1996 and is funded by the State of New York Office of Court Administration. It currently provides both Attorney for Child Services (court assigned only) and Education Law and Advocacy Services for low income families (Project SPEAK), and is located in Goshen, New York.
Kara received her Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude, in 1994 from Arizona State University, with a major in Political Science and a minor in Spanish. Kara received her Juris Doctor degree in 1999 from the University of Arizona, College of Law, where she was an Executive Note Editor for the Arizona Law Review. Kara was admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York in 2002. She clerked for the Honorable James B. Sult at the Arizona Court of Appeals after graduating from law school, and practiced as a litigation associate at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, LLP before joining J&G in 2004.
Kara served on the Board of Directors of the Women’s Bar Association of Orange and Sullivan Counties (“WBAOSC”) for five years, including as President, and is a member of both WBAOSC and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York. She is also a member of the New York State Bar Association, and the Orange County Bar Association.
