Walden, N.Y. (June 27, 2014) – Jacobowitz & Gubits, LLP, a Walden-based law firm that serves individuals, municipalities and businesses, in conjunction with Scott Lask Wealth Management Group and Russell Investments recently held its second forum focused on the legal changes in the Affordable Care Act and its effect on practices and businesses in the Hudson Valley.

On Thursday, June 26, the Leadership Forum titled “Demystifying the Affordable Care Act: What It Means for Your Business II,” held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Newburgh, N.Y., was the second of a three-part series offered in an effort to educate Hudson Valley businesses on new legal requirements in the changing healthcare landscape. The series was prompted by public interest in the seemingly endless revisions to the federal healthcare code.

The event featured a panel consisting of Jason Scott, Esq., a healthcare attorney with Jacobowitz & Gubits; Jason Giordano, managing partner at accounting firm Judelson, Giordano & Siegel; and Colin Smith, owner of Smith Benefits Group. The panel was moderated by Scott Lask, a wealth management expert.

Jason Scott said: “The Affordable Care Act is an extremely complicated law that seems to be constantly changing. We feel it is our duty to advise the business community on upcoming changes to increase their comfort level with the law.”

Jason Giordano said: “There are so many ongoing revisions to the Affordable Care Act that we feel it’s important that businesses are kept up to date on how it’s going to affect their bottom line. We have extensive knowledge in helping businesses with proper accounting practices and we’re happy to be a part of this important outreach.”

Colin Smith said: “Healthcare benefits are one of the highest costs for business owners today. The new healthcare law brings many changes to the requirements of employers, as well as individuals. It’s critical to the vitality of our region to keep everyone as informed as possible.”

The Leadership Forum seminar series focuses on healthcare and the law, and its effects on medical practices and other businesses in the Hudson Valley. A third seminar is currently in the works for September.
