The law firm of Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP, of Walden, Poughkeepsie and Monticello was honored by the Village of Maybrook in a presentation ceremony today at the Village Hall in Maybrook.
The plaque presented by Maybrook Mayor Joseph Dineen; attorney G. Brian Morgan accepted the plaque on behalf of the firm. Mr. Morgan, who resides in Hyde Park, is the attorney at Jacobowitz and Gubits who manages the Village's legal affairs. He is a member of the firm's Municipal Law Team.
The plaque bears the following inscription:
The Village of Maybrook Board of Trustees and the Village of Maybrook Staff express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the Jacobowitz and Gubits law firm for sponsoring our community in the Mid-Hudson Pattern for Progress organization. Membership in this organization will provide the Village of Maybrook an opportunity to attract new business and seek professional planning assistance in the future. The Village of Maybrook also thanks you for your professional legal counsel in all village business matters, on this day, December 19, 2003.
Maybrook's membership in Mid-Hudson Pattern for Progress this year was sponsored by Jacobowitz and Gubits. Mike DiTullo, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Pattern, was also in attendance for the presentation of the plaque to Mr. Morgan, who presented a check to Mayor Dineen for the Village's Pattern Membership.
The Village Board of Trustees and the Mayor have been working to improve the quality of life in Maybrook by modernizing the master plan and zoning law, improving the park system and becoming members of Pattern for Progress and the Hudson Valley Greenway, through which the Village will have access to state grants in aid and professional land use planning services that the mayor believes will open the door to increased business activity and a stronger tax base for the benefit of village residents.
Mid-Hudson Pattern for Progress is a regional "Do-tank"-, in the words of Mr. DiTullo, that works with government and business leaders in the Hudson Valley to plan regionally for "smart growth".
Jacobowitz and Gubits has served as Village Attorneys for Maybrook since 1963. Their Municipal Law Team represents 12 towns and villages in the Hudson Valley.
