Jacobowitz & Gubits, LLP, founded in 1963, is a diversified, full-service law firm engaged in a wide range of specialties, united by a common principle, to deliver the highest quality legal service for their clients.
J&G prides itself on dedicated service and teamwork. Hard work, integrity, creativity and honesty are what we practice. These attributes, coupled with a genuine interest in people, provide a high motivation to solve our clients' problems.
The geographic limits of J&G's practice are defined in large part by the needs and interests of our clients. As the Mid-Hudson Valley has been the object of investors' capital and because the proximity to metropolitan New York has induced a northern migration, the firm's client base and practice areas diversified to include people and companies with wide-ranging plans and needs. (For a listing of Representative Clients, please see below.)
Every attorney who has joined J&G came to fill a need created by increased demands for legal assistance by old and new clients. The firm has responded to the increasing complexity of the legal environment by organizing its practice into teams that reflect the growing range of legal matters it handle. (Please refer to Practice Areas for a listing of the wide range of legal services we provide.)
J&G clients are entitled:
- To be treated with courtesy and consideration at all times by their lawyer and the other lawyers and personnel in J&G's office.
- To an attorney capable of handling their legal matters competently and diligently, in accordance with the highest standards of the profession. If our clients are not satisfied with how their matter is being handled, they have the right to withdraw from the attorney-client relationship at any time.
- To their lawyer's independent professional judgment and undivided loyalty uncompromised by conflicts of interest.
- To be charged a reasonable fee and to have their lawyer explain at the outset how the fee will be computed and the manner and frequency of billing. Our clients are entitled to request and receive a written itemized bill from their attorney at reasonable intervals, and may refuse to enter into any fee arrangement that they find unsatisfactory.
- To have their questions and concerns addressed in a prompt manner and to have their telephone calls returned promptly.
- To be kept informed as to the status of their matter and to request and receive copies of papers. Our clients are entitled to sufficient information to allow them to participate meaningfully in the development of their matter.
- To have their legitimate objectives respected by their attorney, including whether or not to settle their matter (court approval of a settlement is required in some matters).
- To the right of privacy in their dealings with their lawyer and to have their secrets and confidences preserved to the extent permitted by law.
- To have their attorney conduct himself or herself ethically in accordance with the Code of Professional Responsibility.
- To representation regardless of race, creed, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, national origin or disability.
