Mark T. Starkman
Mr. Starkman is a member of the Litigation and Business teams, concentrating his practice on Commercial Litigation, Education Law and Healthcare Law. Mr. Starkman has more than 16 years of practice experience. He counsels business and individual clients in all types of disputes in both state and federal courts. In addition, he represents parents of students with disabilities, students with disciplinary issues and teachers in disputes with school districts. Further, he represents physicians, dentists, chiropractors, physical therapists, nurses and all medical professionals in every aspect of practice including contract matters, credentialing, licensure and professional discipline.
Mark served on the Town of Somers Planning Board from 1997 to 2004 and was on the Board of Directors of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce until December 2008. He is on the St. Luke's Cornwall Health System Foundation Board where he co-chairs the Golf Outing Committee and is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Bar Association where he co-chairs the 100th Anniversary Committee.
Mr. Starkman is a graduate of Pace University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1994 with a certificate in Health Law and Policy. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of NY at Stony Brook in 1978 and his Masters in Business Administration from St. John's University in 1986. He is admitted to practice law in the courts of the State of New York, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern, Northern and Western Districts of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Starkman belongs to the New York State Bar Association, the Dutchess County Bar Association serving as its delegate to New York State Bar Association House of Delegates, the Hudson Valley Bankruptcy Bar Association, and from 1998-2001 was appointed to the Association of the Bar of the City of New York Health Law Committee. His professional memberships consist of the American Health Lawyers Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives (Fellow Designate).
